Plot Summary:

Based on the best-selling novel by Danielle Steel

A powerful tale of forbidden love. It's 1939, the tense summer before the outbreak of World War II and Hitler has the world on edge. Steel magnate, Nicolas (Nick) Burnham is summoned to the White House with an urgent request to gather information on Hitler's threat to world peace. But his trip is complicated when he meets the beautiful wife (Cheryl Ladd) of the French Ambassador (Christopher Plummer). His own marriage with Hillary (Jane Seymour) on the rocks, Nick is instantly attracted to her. So begins a complicated and forbidden relationship which leads them into conflicting passions and divided loyalties.

Commentary by Helene:

Which actor should I choose? They're all so good! Even if I appreciated the play of the other characters, I prefer that which is interpreted by Jane Seymour. Dazzling, spoiled child, egotistic, possessive but so fragile. The quality of the performance of Jane Seymour is such that we can perceive all of these feelings in Hillary's character. I did not manage to hate Hillary in spite of her behavior, and I feel this superb role of composition should have been worth a nomination for an award!
